About Mount Meru
Within the Arusha National Park, you will visit Mount Meru, the Ngurdoto Crater and the Momella Lakes. An abundance of wildlife can be found in wither the forests, woodlands, or grasslands, including elephants, buffalos, bushbucks, giraffes, and duikers. A unique offering are the black and white colobus monkeys who can be found in this area.
In order to prepare to hike Mount Kilimanjaro, many climbers take on Mount Meru. Despite it only being a three or four days trek to the summit, Mount Meru is actually more physically taxing. During the first part of the hike, you will climb past buffalos and giraffes on the way to the base camp hut. While Mount Meru can be climbed in three days, many choose reach the summit in four days to allow time to discover the mountain.

Mount Meru Trekking Itinerary
Being the fifth tallest peak in the continent and second tallest mountain in the country at 4,565 meters, Mount Meru offers hikers a sharp climb. During the trek up, hikers will pass by the streams, parkland, mountain forest, heather zone and moorland. You can observe wildlife on your ascent to one of Africa’s most spectacular volcanoes.
