In order to conquer the roof of Africa you do not need to be a mountaineering or highly trained experts, the trekking is not technically difficult, still it’s important to be well trained and ready because it’s a challenging trekking.

Training with gym, aerobic exercises and activities

Before starting we recommend to train 2-3 times a week in the gym with a good aerobic exercise (running, cycling, step or similar) or outdoors with jogging/running/walking and exercises for all parts of the body such as your shoulders, arms, abs, backbones, not just the legs.
Do not forget stretching exercises, it’s very important for the health of your muscles and for a quick recover.

Mountain Training

If possible, we recommend you train on hiking trails, there is no better workout that grind kilometers up and down the mountain footpaths. Sometimes climbing above 3000 meters, maybe up to 4000 meters, will help a bit your body to get used to the altitude.
Get used walking with trekking poles, poles are very important because they reduce the load on your knees about 20% mainly downhill, you will do less work and it’s more difficult you will experience small pains or annoying inflammation.
